Burnside Farms
Burnside Farms was first created in 2011 by an artist named Kate Daughdrill. She was able to buy the house for $600. She had basically started from nothing. According to Kate, “It was just full of trash and old furniture, and all the electrical and most of the plumbing had been stripped.” The house was surrounded by three empty lots which would also become part of her project. Burnside farms is a place where neighbors come to together to enjoy the food that they are able to grow themselves.
The Women of Banglatown
Burnside Farms collaborates with the Women of Banglatown, an all women's community space located in a garage that was donated to them, to encourage women and their daughters to be leaders. Each week the women and girls are able to do art activities around the plants and printmaking.

The Arts
Through thick and thin Detroit has been able to stay a united community. The downfall and the crises's that the city has gone through inspired some upcoming artists to expand their creativity into Detroit. Although the people from Detroit have seen a lot of change with the violence, crimes, decline of population and much more, for some the city is seen as a new start. A cheap and diverse place to live is seen as an artists dream.
