Motown Music
Motown was a famous American record company founded by Berry Gordy Jr on April 14, 1960 in Detroit Michigan. Motown played a very important role in the racial integration of popular music as an African American owned record label. The record company primarily featured African American artists to regularly achieve crossover success and have a widespread, lasting effect on the music industry. Motown was a black-owned, black-centered business that gave white America something they just could not get enough of — joyous, sad, romantic, mad, groovin', movin' music.
