Rebirth of the Department
Hiring
The police department has seen trouble with the lack of officers on the force. This will change however, as of August 31, Mike Duggan the mayor of Detroit, has promised to hire over 300 officers. A major way to stop crime is simply by having police presence.
Hiring Fairs
|
The Detroit Police Department consistently host job fairs and utilize other recruiting methods in order to gain numbers. It was also announced that in addition to the 300 police officers needed, there was still a need of 100 more officers. These job fairs ensure that qualified citizens can be guided into being a police officer.

Pay Raises
Mayor Duggan announced that all Detroit Police Officers will have a 5% increase in their salary. This is phenomenal considering that many officers were working 12 hour shifts, and it was reported that morale was at an all time low. The starting officer will now make 36,000 compared to their original 31,700.
